![]() That would indeed be disappointing, but its post-debut legs will be about The Rise of Skywalker, not The Last Jedi.Ī 3.33x multiplier (like I Am Legend) gets Rise of Skywalker to $586 million domestic and over/under $1.175 billion worldwide. We’re still looking at a movie that earned $374 million worldwide this weekend, and even Batman v Superman legs ($873 million from a $424 million global launch) would give it $700 million worldwide. Ditto if they reacted to the divisive (online at least) Last Jedi by giving us a painfully generic threequel, as we saw with Justice League after Dawn of Justice. If Star Wars really did pull an Amazing Spider-Man 2/ Dark Phoenix, selling out the general audiences in order to appease the vocal hardcore fan base (or give them what they thought the fans wanted), we’ll see that play out over the next two weeks. We’re still dealing with a movie that opened with $175.5 million and was only slightly less leggy over the weekend than its relative predecessors. ![]()
